Born in Provence, Maison Strata draws on the light of the South and the presence of stone to imagine objects to carry.

PORTALE expresses these origins through a sculptural silhouette: an ivory mineral-look shell, softened by taupe leather and a touch of brass.

Emir is not the name
I had when I left.

It is the one I took when I came back. In between, there were years away, cities, workshops, and a pebble picked up one summer in the Calanques. I do not tell everything. What matters fits in one piece, and in one hundred city names.

From landscape to line

Everything begins in pencil.

A pebble, an opening, a curve the hand recognises. On paper, we look for the balance between the volume of the shell and the line of the handle, down to the way the leather meets the shell.

Three materials, one presence.

A mineral-look shell, taupe leather, a touch of brass. Contrast is part of the design: the softness of leather extends the line of the shell, while light catches the metal.

Behind the Maison.

PORTALE began as a drawing by Emir. To give it form, he turned to long-time friends, each a master of their craft. An independent Maison, by choice.
